Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi[c] (2 October – 30 January ) was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist, and political ethicist who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India's independence from British rule. He inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world.History Gandhi, Mahatma, 1869 1948; Gandhiji's Autobiography* and his Satyagraha in South Africa+, as published in English, run into almost pages. An abridgement++ of these two into a single volume of pages was published in by the Navajivan Trust. A request was recently received for a still smaller version for use in our schools.
